The circle I had to go around to get an appointment was almost negligent. I was phoning regarding my 20 month old. I know from experience that 111 and a pharmacist will always say, due to age, they need to be seen at the doctors surgery. I was told no appointments and to call 111 despite me highlighting his age. 111 referred to pharmacist who said, due to age, it needs to be GP. This whole process took 5 hours and left me in floods of tears. The symptoms I described to the receptionist were not mild and were worthy of an appointment. The ludicrous thing was I ended up getting one anyway so there were appointments and I was lied to. The appointment I had was with Luke the paramedic and he was very thorough and we are very pleased with the care I received from him.

Suggested improvements
The receptionists need to know that with infants they need to be seen at the GP especially when rashes and potential tonsillitis symptoms are being described. Please don’t lie to parents about availability and just be transparent about the system. If we have to go in this ridiculous circle then so be it but be transparent about this process.

You can never get an appointment to see a GP ,if you ring at 8am no appointments,if you ask to book ahead ,no appointments. This appointment I got with Frankie, who I normally see,5 days later than I should have had as I have to have this injection every 12 weeks, couldn't get an appointment for when it was due. It really is an extremely worrying situation to not be able to see a GP when you require medical help.

Suggested improvements
I always have good service from Frankie. But in general, you need more appointments available, more GPs available and definitely an overhaul of you appointment system in order that patients are always being told" no appointments available"

1) Yesterday Harriet was amazing and was concerned enough to contact Dr G and arrange an appointment straight away. She was kind, listened and was patient. 2)Surgery spotless 3) Receptionists not massively helpful and on recent occasion I had a tel appointment where locum dr rang one ring and hung up. Next day when I called for appt as dr hadn’t called back prev day, I was told a straight No and to ring 111! 4) Obviously not easy to get appointments.

Suggested improvements
Don’t allow any GPs to just ring one ring for telephone appointments as not everyone can answer in three seconds! Ting at least six rings and if no answer make an effort to calla second time.

Generally it is very time consuming to get an appointment especially Econsult getting passed around not knowing where or when you will receive a call all very vague. Saying that the nurse who does the micro suction is lovely and very good
